Steinar Nickelsen is a keyboard player from Norway. In addition to piano he also plays Hammond B3 organ and synthesizer.

Nickelsen was elected ”Young Norwegian Jazz Musician of the Year” in 2002 with the trio ”Solid!” in a competition at the Molde International jazz festival. The prize was several tours in Norway in 2002 and 2003. ”Solid!” also won the international jazz contest in Getxo, Spain, in the summer of 2003.

Played 8 concerts in 2003 with ”Trondheim jazz Orchestra featuring Pat Metheny”.

Nickelsen played and recorded with Pål Thowsen and Jon Eberson on Thowsens release “…the rest is rumors..” in 2002. Jupiter released their debut “Ignition” in 2004, and the follow up albums “Live at Glenn Miller Featuring Jonas Kullhammar” in 2006, and “III2” in 2007.

His debut as a leader started 2007 with the release “Nickelsen Trio – Mis en bouteille à New York” feautring Ari Hoenig – drums and Lage Lund – guitar.
